U.S. Cellular announced last month that it is adding 60 new jobs at its customer call center in Knoxville. The call center, located off Pellissippi Parkway, currently employs more than 400 people and serves U.S. Cellular customers in Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland.
To make room for the new positions, the company will be moving its sales and management staff from the call center to the sales store at 8401 Kingston Pike.
The new jobs are to meet increasing demands caused by the growth of its business. The wireless company reported it added 600,000 customers in its third quarter.
At a time when our competitors are closing facilities and internationally out-sourcing customer service, we are proud to bring more jobs to the Knoxville area, said John E. Rooney, president and CEO of U.S. Cellular. Our obsession with total customer satisfaction has been rewarded with a huge amount of new business. The investment were making and the new jobs were creating here are clear results of our success.
U.S. Cellular has played an integral role in the economy of KnoxCounty since 1988, said Knox County Mayor Mike Ragsdale. U.S. Cellular is a responsible corporate citizen and we are thankful for their continued commitment to our community.
