Number eighteen ranking based on areas strong job growth and industrial balance
The May issue of Inc. Magazine's May, on sale at newsstands on April 26th, includes the magazines "Best Cities to Do Business in America" rankings. The Knoxville metropolitan area is ranked number eighteen by the magazine.
Based on the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics, the survey is entirely objective. Job growth accounts for two-thirds of rankings scoring, while the remainder is based on industrial mix or balance.
This ranking is great news, said Mike Edwards, president and CEO of the Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership. But its not new news - anyone watching the news lately has seen the tremendous announcements that have been made and the jobs that are being created.
The Knoxville areas strong job growth is the determining factor in Inc.s ranking. Recently announced expansions by companies like EXEDY and Jewelry Television and new locations by companies like Brinks Home Security and 84 Lumber Company are examples of the growth the community is experiencing.
The great thing about Inc.s rankings is that it is one more way that were in front of the folks that make decisions about where to move, start or grow businesses and create jobs, continued Edwards. This independent ranking by an outside source also validates our marketing efforts to these decision makers - they know were not selling them a lot of smoke. The Jobs Now! program and the work the Chamber Partnerships economic development professionals are doing is paying off!
