Knox County Welcomes Brink’s Home Security to Innovation Valley

Knoxville, TN (April 14, 2005) – Knox County Mayor Mike Ragsdale, Tennessee Economic & Community Development Commissioner Matthew Kisber, regional economic development professionals, and Brink’s Home Security, Inc executives announced Pellissippi Corporate Center as the new location for their new National Customer Contact Center. The 50,000 square foot facility will be constructed on a 9.6-acre parcel of land near the intersection of Pellissippi Parkway and Hardin Valley Road.

The new facility will complement Brink’s Home Security’s National Support Center in Irving, Texas, providing additional capacity and enhancing disaster recovery capabilities. When fully staffed, the center will accommodate over 400 monitoring operators and customer care specialists to provide quick response to alarm signals and inquiries received from customers throughout the United States and western Canada. The facility will maintain operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The company plans to spend in excess of $10 million to construct the center and install state-of-the-art computer and telecommunications equipment.

“This announcement is a homerun for Knox County,” said Mayor Ragsdale. “We’re thrilled to welcome another strong national brand here. The top-quality jobs and the impressive technological resources that Brink’s Home Security brings are a perfect fit for Knox County and the Innovation Valley. The successful recruitment of Brink’s Home Security is a testament to how the area’s economic professionals, the state and the County all worked together.”

“The emphasis we have placed on the Jobs Cabinet approach to job creation, which encourages collaborative efforts between state and local government, continues to pay dividends in Tennessee’s economic success. Today we celebrate how this approach is working with the announcement that Brink’s Home Security will locate its National Customer Contact Center in the Pellissippi Corporate Center,” said ECD Commissioner Matthew Kisber. “We are excited about Brink’s Home Security’s commitment to Tennessee and the better paying, higher-skilled jobs their presence will bring to Knox County. We look forward to working with them to grow even more employment opportunities in the future.”

“We evaluated a number of sites over the past year and quickly focused in on the Knoxville area,” said Bob Allen, President of Brink’s Home Security. “The impressive workforce, terrific community and helpful Tennessee, Knox County and Knoxville officials made our final location choice very easy. We are pleased to be adding these employment opportunities to the Knoxville area and look forward to becoming a member of the local business community.”

“Our company prides itself on our customer support,” said Carole Vanyo, Senior Vice President of Customer Operations at Brink’s Home Security. “The extraordinary workforce in the Knoxville area will certainly enhance our successful track record of delivering outstanding customer service.” Brink’s Home Security was recently certified for providing “An Outstanding Customer Service Experience” by J.D. Power and Associates.

“We worked with Brink’s Home Security and their real estate consultant for over eighteen months to find the right location and prove Knox County as the right place for this facility,” said Mike Edwards, president and CEO of the Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership. “The relationships we developed, the work we did and the collaborative efforts of our regional partners and local and state government officials would not have happened without Jobs Now! Jobs Now! made it possible for us to visit Brink’s Home Security in Texas and aggressively market to their decision makers. ”

Brink’s Home Security anticipates the new site will be operational in early 2006.
